UTSA hosts Tech Entrepreneurship Boot Camp-Oct. 12th

Event features presentations and workshops to assist start-up business owners— Karta Technologies founder G.P. Singh discusses the creation, growth and recent sale of his company to NCI Information Systems Inc. as he headlines The University of Texas at San Antonio’s semi-annual Center for Innovation and Technology Entrepreneurship (CITE) Jackson Walker L.L.P. Technology Entrepreneurship Boot Camp.

The day-long workshop runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 12 in the Biotechnology, Sciences and Engineering Building Room (2.106) on the 1604 Campus.

The event features presentations on fundamental entrepreneurship topics including opportunity identification, business plan basics, intellectual property and the UT system, introduction to business law, and funding a technology start-up. A networking reception will wrap-up the day’s events.

Other scheduled participants include Linda De La Vina, Dean of the UTSA College of Business, Cory Hallam, director of the UTSA Center for Innovation and Technology Entrepreneurship, James Poage, president and CEO of the San Antonio Technology Accelerator, Initiative (SATAI), Jill Dickman, senior business development specialist, Small Business Development Center (CITE) and Raymond Teske, professor in the UTSA College of Business.

Cost of admission is free for UTSA students and $20 for UTSA employees. Admission is $10 for students from other institutions and $40 for the general public. Space is limited to 50 participants, so early registration is advised.

The UTSA Center for Innovation and Technology Entrepreneurship (CITE) focuses on fostering the growth of entrepreneurs and new technology-based ventures through a process of Education, experiences, resources, and support.

The Entrepreneurship Boot Camp is co-sponsored by the UTSA Colleges of Business and Engineering, the UTSA Institute for Economic Development, the UTSA Office of the Vice President for Research and the San Antonio Technology Accelerator Initiative (SATAI).
