American Cancer Society to support Proposition 15

Over the next few weeks you will be asked to vote on landmark legislation that could make Texas the top state in cancer research. There are going to be sixteen propositions that the Texas Legislature is putting before the voters for their approval.

Proposition 15 would allow for $3 billion dollars for funding cancer research and prevention over the next 10 years. We have a chance to make a real difference in the battle to cure cancer. On Monday, October 22nd at 9 a.m. the American Cancer Society, in conjunction with several other medical leaders, will be holding a March to the Courthouse to Support Proposition 15.

October 22nd is the first day of early voting and we are confident this event will bring large amounts of media and allow us to get our message out. There will be several speakers, including former Mayor Henry Cisneros and Dr. Sharon Wilks, who will discuss the importance of this important legislation.

The event will begin at 9 a.m. at The Greater San Antonio Chamber ofCommerce, 602 E. Commerce. (parking is available at River Center Mall or Marina garage) We will then go to the Bexar County Justice Center for a Press Briefing and Rally. Immediately following, we will cast our early votes at the Justice Center.

I hope you will be able to attend this important event. I also ask that you please forward this information to anyone who may be interested in attending. The higher the turnout, the greater the chance for passage of Proposition 15.
