Governor Perry appoints Billye Proctor Shaw
Gov. Rick Perry (photo) Appoints Shaw as Presiding Officer of Texas Commission on the Arts
AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry appointed Billye Proctor Shaw of Abilene as presiding officer of the Texas Commission on the Arts for a term to expire at the pleasure of the governor. The commission encourages appreciation for fine arts in Texas and acts in an advisory capacity regarding the construction and remodeling of state buildings and works of art.
Shaw is president of Big Tex Solutions. She serves as a trustee of the Abilene Christian University Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing, and volunteers on the board of the West Texas Rehabilitation Center. Shaw is a board member of the Texas Historical Foundation and the Abilene Arts Alliance. Additionally, she serves on the board of the Cancer Service Network, the Community Foundation of Abilene, and Athena International.
Shaw received a bachelor’s degree from Rice University.
