Stonewall Democrats 1st Annual Awards Banquet




Local Democratic politicians and GLBT citizens mixed and mingled at the Stonewall Democrats of San Antonio First Annual Awards Banquet on September 23.

Awards were given to (first row, left to right): Rev. Ilene B. Dunn, pastor of Madison Square Presbyterian Church, who received the Community Leadership Award; State Representative Mike Villarreal who received the Political Advocacy Award; and Charlie Gallimore, a Stonewall member, who received the Volunteer Appreciation Award.

The keynote speaker was Lupe Valdez (first row, fourth photo from left), the Sheriff of Dallas County, a lesbian and the first Democrat elected to that post in 30 years.

Master of Ceremonies for the event was Dr. Richard Gambitta (second row, second photo from left), Director of the Institute for Law and Public Affairs at UTSA.
