David Van Os speaks to Brenham residents

News from Brenham
AG candidate David Van Os speaks to Brenham residents.

Election Day is four months away but San Antonio attorney David Van Os is getting an early start on his campaign for Texas Attorney General. He is the Democratic nominee to take on Republican incumbent Greg Abbott.

Van Os made a campaign stop at the Washington County courthouse yesterday afternoon with rhetoric as hot as the weather. He denounced big oil companies, big insurance companies and others he considered to be ‘robber barons’ in the state while dismissing questions about getting elected in a state where no Democrat has won statewide office in over a decade. Van Os is taking on at least one position that could swing some votes his way.

A group of mostly Democratic activists came by to hear the candidate’s fiery speech in which he said people are really interested in the three billion dollar monthly profits the oil companies are making along with the highest home insurance rates in the nation.

He stated firmly that the attorney general has the power and the duty to regulate these industries and promised that if elected, he will actively prosecute large corporations who violate the law.
