STWBC Announces Business Plan Contest Finalists
The City’s South Texas Women’s Business Center (STWBC) has chosen three finalists for its inaugural business plan competition. The winner will be chosen and announced on Friday, Aug. 28, 2009 at the First Annual Women’s Business Symposium at the Norris Conference Center at Crossroads Mall, 4522 Fredericksburg Road, during the Symposium luncheon.
“We were impressed with the high caliber of entries that we received for our first business plan competition,” said Celina Peña, director of the STWBC. “These finalists set the standard high for their peers in the business world, and we are proud to recognize their efforts through this competition.”
The finalists are: Clarissa Garza and Victoria Moreno-Herrera, owners of Baby Besos (babybesos.com), an online, bi-lingual baby store focused on Latino-inspired products; Shana Prichard, owner of Realign LLC (realignorganizing.com), an organizational consulting firm; and Julissa Carielo, owner of Tejas Premier Building Contractor (tejaspremierbc.com), a full-service building contractor agency.
The Women’s Business Summit includes a breakfast, roundtable discussions, an EXPO, buyer-seller networking opportunities, a Luncheon featuring Nina Vaca, and an opportunity to vote for the First Annual Business Plan Winner. The Summit supports the Center’s programming and mission, to build strong small, women, and minority-owned businesses that build strong communities.
The STWBC is a resource business center located in San Antonio and serving 11 counties. It is a program of the South Texas Business Fund, the City of San Antonio’s non-profit lending arm. The STWBC provides education, counseling, and training services to aspiring entrepreneurs and established business owners.
