Austin – Grassroots activists from conservative and libertarian organizations, think tanks and political parties have launched the counterweight to a predominately liberal blogosphere.

Americans For Prosperity, the largest taxpayer advocacy organization in the country, launched RightOnline, the conservative alternative to the liberal-progressive make-up of various blogs, news Web sites and other online networks.

“The Defending the American Dream Summit with Americans for Prosperity and RightOnline is the perfect, long overdue opportunity to bring together representatives from conservative organizations, grassroots activists and bloggers,” said AFP-TX public relations director Kristin Jones. “The ultimate goal of this summit is to provide something of value to each of these groups individually, but also to enhance collaboration among them.”

The AFP-TX summit will be in Austin July 18-19, with the New Media event coinciding with the liberal-progressive convention, NetRootsNation, which features the DailyKos and Burnt Orange Report, the state’s largest Democratic blog.

“While the mission of RightOnline will be to foster greater cohesiveness among these constituent parts, it will also seek to promote the following objectives within each specific group,” Jones said.

The Republican Party of Texas convention June 12 will play host to an all-day RightOnline function, Jones said.

RightOnline, which is non-partisan and seeks activists from numerous conservative-libertarian organizations, will also host functions at the Constitution Party of Texas convention Saturday, June 14th and the Libertarian Party convention in Fort Worth the following day.
