Bipartisan delegation of elected officials will join national and local organizations to call for family reunification and end to policy of placing children in jail-like detention centers
Phoenix – The National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) today announced that it will send a bipartisan delegation to the #EndFamilyDetention march and rally that will take place in Tornillo, Texas on Sunday, June 24
“Our nation’s Latino leaders will be on the ground in Tornillo calling for an end to the placement of children in jail-like detention centers and the immediate reunification of every mother, father and child who has been separated from other family members as a result of the failure of the federal government to implement humane immigration policies,” stated Arturo Vargas, NALEO chief executive officer. The group of NALEO leaders attending tomorrow’s #EndFamilyDetention event includes:

Vargas went on to say, “America is at a crossroads. History is watching, and it is up to our nation’s leaders to work together to put in place a modern framework that ends these kinds of heinous acts and addresses our broken immigration system once and for all. NALEO members are up to the challenge, but we cannot do it alone. We will need the help of courageous leaders like those gathering for #EndFamilyDetention rally to stop the ‘zero-tolerance’ policy and make comprehensive immigration reform a reality.”
