Memorial Day in San Antonio remembered by Vets/families, 5-25

This afternoon at 3 p.m. Veterans and families took a moment of silence to honor the men and women in our armed forces who died in the service of the United States of America.

For the past 15 years Americans have paused for one minute to reflect on the sacrifices that secured our freedoms. This remembrance is a unifying commemoration of our country's history and our brave men and women in uniform.
While Memorial Day has been observed in some form since 1868, starting as a day set aside to decorate the graves of Civil War dead, its observance has not always united our country.

Almost 150 years later, I am heartened that for most of us this is a day to enjoy family and friendship and to mark with gratitude and respect those who made the ultimate sacrifice to guarantee our freedoms.

God bless America, and thank you to all who fought to preserve her.

Sincerely,
Ivy. R Taylor, SA Mayor

Tommy Adkisson endorses Mayor Ivy Taylor for re-election, 5-22

Mayor Taylor's Experience & Diplomacy
Earn Endorsement from Tommy Adkisson

On the steps of City Hall, with nearly one hundred supporters, former Bexar County Commissioner Tommy Adkisson formally endorsed Mayor Ivy Taylor in the runoff race for Mayor of San Antonio.

Speaking to numerous members of the media and a diverse crowd, Mayor Taylor stated, “Adkisson’s love for the community is evident- it shines through every time he speaks,” and went on to say she agrees with the messaging Adkisson brought forth on earlier this year on the campaign trail.

Taylor said our local government must work “to ensure that we have strong neighborhoods across the city- to ensure that our citizens have confidence in their government- especially for those areas of our community that have been neglected in the past. We need to return the Mayor’s seat to the people!”
As she thanked Adkisson, Mayor Taylor said, “I really am humbled and I am grateful for this endorsement.”

Adkisson based his endorsement decision on Mayor Taylor’s significant local experience and diversity of thought, as well as her ability to exercise incredible tact and genuine diplomacy.

“We need someone who will put San Antonio first, someone who will put politics aside and get the job done. Mayor Taylor is the right candidate for the job and the right person for this city."

Both Mayor Taylor and Adkisson are united in their commitment to refocus local resources on the core functions of city government: walkable and sustainable neighborhoods, road infrastructure- along with curbs and sidewalks, flood control, and supporting small businesses.
