UTSA Institute for Cyber Security hosts expert, Nov. 18

Event will feature presentation and official launch of new technology incubator

The University of Texas at San Antonio Institute for Cyber Security (ICS) welcomes Professor Eugene Spafford, world-renowned cyber security expert, for a presentation “Information Security: Some Past Successes, Some Future Challenges” at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 18 in the Biotechnology, Sciences and Engineering Building Room 2.102 on the 1604 Campus.

At the event, the UTSA Institute for Cyber Security will also officially launch a new ICS Internet security incubator, designed to develop and assist in commercializing promising technologies that address major cyber security and privacy issues.

Spafford serves as Executive Director of the Purdue University Center for Education and Research in Information Assurance and Security (CERIAS). Since 1987, he’s also served as a professor with an appointment in Computer Science at Purdue and has been awarded courtesy titles as a professor of Philosophy, a professor of Communication and a professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
