Who are the Guardian Angels?

Founded in 1979 by Curtis Sliwa, the Guardian Angels began as a group of 13 dedicated volunteers who patrolled the subways, streets and neighborhoods of NYC to deter crime and violence. Today, the organization is a vast global network of volunteers from all walks of life who, through a variety of activities, safeguard communities, families and children.

The Guardian Angels recognized education as the key to keeping schoolyard bullying from spilling into the streets and neighborhoods, unleashing a path of crime and violence.

The Angels have long provided valuable educational programs to school staffs and students on topics including character development, bullying, gang resistance, violence prevention, and Internet safety.
