Please help us kick off a very special night at the Fiesta Carnival Tuesday, April 12th. Start of "Remember the Red" Carnival evening for elementary-age children @ 4 p.m. @ Fiesta Carnival, Alamodome Parking Lot C.
Emcee Sonny Melendrez; Fiesta Commission President Sam Steves; Shelah Simmons, president of Circles of San Antonio; Bexar County Commissioner Tommy Adkisson; Capt. Jimmy Reyes, Carnival Commander for Fiesta 2011; Bexar County Sheriff Amadeo Ortiz; District Attorney Susan Reed; Wade Shows President Frank Zaitshik; Erica Haller-Stevenson, SA Tobacco Prevention and Control Coalition; local schoolchildren; Royalty from PiƱatas in the Barrio, an official Fiesta event.
To reinforce the Red Ribbon Program messages given to children in October and to give the kids a fun Fiesta evening. Details: Lots of Fiesta fans want San Antonio's children to grow up safe and drug free. The Fiesta San Antonio Commission partnered with Circles of San Antonio for Red Ribbon Week in October to persuade elementary-age schoolchildren to make smart choices regarding drugs and alcohol.
Remember the Red is a followup to that program. Speakers will encourage children wearing "Remember the Red" t-shirts to find safe ways to spend their free time. Carnival hours that night are 6-11 p.m.
