The ceremonial unveiling of the Fiesta 2009 poster, from 5:45-6:15 p.m. Feb. 18th @ the St. Anthony Hotel , 300 East Travis St .
Fiesta San Antonio Commission President Charles Barrett; poster artist Billy Mitchell; Fiesta royalty & military ambassadors; Mark Koshnick of Capital One Bank; Fiesta personalities.
The Fiesta Poster Unveiling officially kicks off San Antonio ’s Fiesta season.
What’s different this year: 2009 marks the Fiesta San Antonio Commission’s 50th anniversary. This milestone will be marked as part of the ceremony. We’ll show how Fiesta has grown and changed over this half century to fully reflect the Alamo City.
Fiesta has been a San Antonio tradition since 1891. The commission was established to coordinate everything in 1959. That year the commission began with 11 nonprofit member organizations and 23 official events. This year 101 civilian organizations and a half dozen military groups are to present 108 Fiesta events.
Barrett is to introduce new or returning Fiesta events and their nonprofit sponsor organizations. Koshnick, president of the San Antonio and Rio Grande Area of Capital One Bank, is among the speakers. The poster artist will be introduced, and at the climactic moment, his winning poster design will be revealed.
Ceremony participants and others will be available for interviews after the 6:15 conclusion of the ceremony.
The Fiesta San Antonio Commission is a nonprofit organization that plans, coordinates and preserves Fiesta San Antonio through the support of its participating member organizations. Visit its website at www.fiesta-sa.org.
