A message from District 8 Councilwoman Diane Cibrian
Dear Neighbors,
Last Friday, Leeza’s Place by WellMed at the Bob Ross Senior Center opened in District 8. Leeza Gibbons began Leeza’s Place in response to the challenges she and her family encountered while seeking support following her mother’s diagnosis of Alzheimer’s Disease.
Her goal was to create a support network for those with neurological disorders and their caregivers. I would like to thank Leeza Gibbons for her leadership and commitment to improve the lives of senior citizens. Neurological disorders are not only painful to those suffering illnesses, but are also cumbersome to loved ones. Leeza’s Place plays a priceless role in our community, serving as a haven and place of support for caregivers.
Many families have experienced similar difficult times. When I was a child, I was blessed to have a large family to care for my kind and beautiful grandmother. I believe the City of San Antonio has an important duty to protect our senior citizens. This Labor Day, enjoy elderly family members and loved ones. I want to wish you and your family a wonderful and relaxing Labor Day Holiday, created to give workers a rest. It is traditionally celebrated as the symbolic ending to summer, as my daughter Cristina and other children around our District know, having started back school.
Yours in public service,
Diane G. Cibrian
