Stellar musical lineup taking part in Main Plaza Opening Celebration
The opening ceremony for Main Plaza – The Heart of the City promises to be a night you won’t forget as an eclectic musical lineup will take various stages to celebrate this monumental event.
Sunday, April 13th, Main Plaza will be filled with the sweet sounds of some of Texas’ best artists. The festivities kick-off at 6:15 p.m. with Tejana legend Rita Vidaurri “La Calandria” and San Antonio’s accordion queen Eva Ybarra with Azul. At 6:30 p.m. Henry Brun & the Latin Playerz will offer up their unique style of Latin Jazz.
The internationally renowned group is known for their integration of rhythm and blues, swing, and straight ahead jazz with a Latin beat. As night falls upon the event and the official ceremony wraps up, the San Antonio Symphony will take center stage playing a collection of musical greats as the lighted Tobin Fountains dance to their timeless beat.
The evening comes to a close with the distinct sounds of Spot Barnett and the New Breed Band featuring Will Owen Gage. Their cool R&B sounds with a hint of swing makes all that hear their style of Jazz want to get up and dance.
Come out and enjoy the Opening Day Celebration of Main Plaza, the night promises to offer something for every type of music lover. Opening day festivities are free and open to the public.
