AFP-TX Director Peggy Venable expressed concern when she said, "This debt will be a huge burden to future Texas taxpayers."Good news for taxpayers includes the blowout win when 85% of voters approved an amendment requiring recorded votes in the Legislature that will now be accessible on the internet.
Texas had been one of only 10 states that allowed legislators to pass bills on voice votes, leaving no record on how they voted. Texans also approved a 10% limit on property appraisal increases, property tax exemptions for severely disabled military veterans, and another property tax exemption on vehicles used by small-business owners.Texans typically approve proposals to amend the Constitution.
