Memorial Day @ Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, 5-27

As the unofficial start of summer, Memorial Day is often a day off from work or school, a three-day weekend on which to travel or a chance to spend much needed quality time with friends and family for a backyard BBQ.

This year, I ask you to take a moment and remember the reason for Memorial Day--honoring those who have given the ultimate sacrifice to spread and defend freedom across the globe.

As a military man, I have had the honor to serve with brave men and women from all military branches and know first-hand the sacrifices made by individuals, families, and communities.

So this Memorial Day, as we enjoy the freedoms of our great country, take a moment to think of our friends, family members, and even those we have never met who fought and died defending them.

As with any holiday weekend, be extra careful when on the road. Designate a driver and keep an eye on friends or guests who may not be safe to drive.

My family and I wish you a safe and happy Memorial Day!
Yours in service,
