Mary Alice Cisneros, wife of former SA Mayor Henry Cisneros, has officially declared her intent to run for the San Antonio City Council, District 1 in May. Announcing in front of a huge crowd gathered in her home on W. Houston Street, she told the excited crowd she was ready to serve the City of San Antonio. The atmosphere was somewhat subdued due to the untimely death of her mother the night before.

Stating that her mother strongly supported her decision to run before her death, Mary Alice said she felt it was the right thing to do and not cancel the announcement.

Besides her husband Henry introducing her to the crowd, Rudy Rodriguez a long time friend spoke as well as Fox Tech Senior Justine Vasquez.

Elected Officials, & District 1 supporters squeezed into the Cisneros home to hear the announcement. The media included: WOAI-News 4, Channel 5 Eyewitness News, KSAT-12, Express-News, La Prensa and freelance media.
