Representative Tomas Uresti Declares Candidacy for Senate District 19
San Antonio, Texas – Texas Representative Tomas Uresti filed the necessary paperwork with the Texas Secretary of State to enter the emergency special election Governor Abbott has called for Senate District 19 to be held July 31, 2018After many discussions and much encouragement from friends, family, and constituents throughout Texas over the last several weeks Representative Uresti was encouraged to become a candidate.

As the current Representative for House District 118 anchored in San Antonio along with deep ties and relationships in West Texas, Representative Uresti is well versed in the hard working communities of Senate District 19.  Representative Uresti has experience working in the judicial system, owning a small business, serving on the board of directors for the Bexar County Appraisal District for four years, and serving on the Harlandale ISD Board of Trustees for 13 years. His experience as a school board member in San Antonio have proven him to be a champion for children and a strong believer in public education.

For his entire career, Tomas has fought to secure the necessary resources for child protective services at the local, state and federal level.  As such, Tomas is a strong believer in the state's duty to provide resources to rural counties, as in West Texas. Rep. Uresti also maintains a great appreciation and understanding of the role the oil and gas community plays in not only West Texas but throughout Texas and the nation.

As the husband of Leslie Marie Uresti, a Harlandale school teacher for 23 years, a father of 6 and a grandfather of 14, he has the background required to effectively serve SD 19.

"After receiving such positive encouragement and taking time to pray and reflect with my family, I am confident I can work with the hard working communities across Senate District 19 to effectively represent the districts needs" said Representative Tomas Uresti.
