Ron Nirenberg officially files for Mayor of San Antonio, 1-18

With my wife Erika at my side, I filed to be a candidate for Mayor of San Antonio. So many wonderful and engaged citizens from across the city encouraged me to run because they know that with bold, fresh leadership we can regain our momentum and ensure San Antonio is the City you deserve, today and well into the future.

It's important to note that the filing form did not include a box to check for Republican or Democrat. That's because the problems that we face as a city do not have partisan solutions. We elect city leaders not as Republicans or Democrats but as San Antonians concerned about our quality of life today and our future prosperity. I’m proud to be the only truly independent candidate in the race for Mayor – the only candidate whose vision is not limited by partisan
blinders or special interests.

I look forward to a vigorous campaign that’s focused on the challenges and opportunities we face as one of America's fastest growing cities. We must encourage economic development that creates good-paying new jobs that benefit all of San Antonio. We must address our transportation infrastructure with a modern multi-modal system that is citizen-driven and voter approved. And we must ensure our city’s leaders are held accountable by shining the bright light of public scrutiny on the people's business and putting real teeth in our ethics laws so those who violate the public trust face real and strict consequences.

As reported in the Express-News, we raised nearly $245,000 before announcing our run for Mayor. We will continue to be competitive in our fundraising as we take our campaign, our vision and our positive message directly, to the people of San Antonio.
