18th Annual SAAHJ Scholarship& Awards Gala-Grand Hyatt, 8-19

Tickets nearly gone

The 18th Annual SAAHJ Scholarship & Awards Gala set for Friday, Aug. 19, at the Grand Hyatt, 600 E. Market, is close to being sold out!
We have a great program lined up with performances by Tallercito de Son and the Guadalupe Dance Company. We are honoring Tejano star and social activist Little Joe Hernández, community leader and former Councilwoman María Antonietta Berriozábal and UT Professor and former journalist Maggie Rivas- Rodriguez.
We'll salute colleagues who died in the last year, especially our "parish priest," Father Eddie Bernal. We'll have a raffle fundraiser for the first time and we're planning a terrific after-party — on the same floor as the gala — featuring Express-News columnist Brian Chasnoff as our DJ.
So that's the good news.
Here's the bad news — online ticket sales will close Friday, July 29, so if you don't have your ticket yet, you have just a few days to get it done.
Tickets are $100 for members, which is a real bargain because it includes dues for the year. Non-member tickets are $125.
To get your tickets, go to sahispanicjournalists.com and click on gala tickets in the top menu bar.
¡Adelante!
