As a lifelong resident of Terrell Hills, Anne Ballantyne knows a thing or two about the city. And now she’s ready to put her considerable talents to work for the citizens of Terrell Hills as their next mayor.
Her list of community service accomplishments is impressive. She has served on the Terrell Hills City Council for the past 12 years, has been involved with the Battle of Flowers Association for 20 year and is the current president, chaired the Battle of Flowers Parade in 2011, serves on the Fiesta Commission Executive Committee and has served nine years on the Alamo Heights School Board. She graduated from the University of Texas where she received a BBA and an MBA.
“It has been an honor to serve on the Terrell Hills City Council for the past 12 years. During that time we have made tremendous progress with our streets, staff, building ordinances and most of all our new City Hall. I would like to continue moving Terrell Hills forward while providing outstanding city services for our residents,” the 12-year breast cancer survivor said.
As mayor, Ballantyne plans to focus on improving the city’s infrastructure with more maintenance and repairs of streets, increasing the city’s recycling program through education and bringing Terrell Hills residents together more often at community events.
Other issues she hopes to tackle as mayor include:
● Developing and maintaining green space
within the city● Exploring ways to improve pedestrian safety, including better lighting on key roadways
● Enforcing and developing ordinances and incentives to encourage better maintained private properties
● Continuing efforts to beautify Terrell Hills
● Continuing to find ways to improve drainage issues by working with adjoining cities and jurisdictions
● Encouraging revitalization of semi-commercial properties along Harry Wurzbach
● Retaining and encouraging the strong Terrell Hills city management and staff
