D-Day June 6th, 1944. 160,000 Allied troops landed alond a 50-mile strech of heavily fortifed French coastline to fight Nazi Germeny on the beaches of Normandy, France. More then 5,000 ships and 13,000 aircraft supported the D-Day invasion.
By day's end on June 6th the Allies gained a foot-hold on Normandy but at the cost of more than 9,000 Allied Soldiers who were killed or wounded. But more that 100,000 began their march across Europe to defeat Hitler. May we never forget the Greatest Generation; who they were and what they did, for all mankind.
