SAISD statement on Judge's ruling on lack of school funding

SAISD statement sent to the media regarding State District Judge John Dietz's ruling today that the school finance system lacks adequate funding for schools :

"We are very pleased with the Judge’s ruling. We – and other districts across the state – took a stand to speak out for Texas children, calling for adequate and equitable public education for all children. And our voices were heard.

We’re happy with the outcome, yet not surprised, and we will need to see where it goes from here. 

 We understand it is likely to go to the Texas Supreme Court on appeal – but we urge lawmakers not to wait to address restoring the $5.4 billion in funding cuts made by the previous Legislature."
