July 4 at Morgan’s Wonderland To Feature Military-First Responder Salute, Plus Soccer and Fireworks
SAN ANTONIO – Morgan’s Wonderland will celebrate Independence Day on Wednesday, July 4, with a special tribute to those who dedicate themselves to protecting their fellow citizens – members of the armed forces as well as first responders such as fire, law enforcement and emergency medical professionals.

“Independence Day gives us an excellent opportunity to say thanks to dedicated men and women who devote themselves day in and day out to public security and safety,” said Ron Morander, general manager of the unique and colorful Morgan’s Wonderland theme park.

Morgan’s Wonderland gates will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., while special entertainment and free food will be offered from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Free hot dogs with all the trimmings plus apple pies courtesy of McDonald’s Restaurants will be served while supplies last, Morander said.

The Revolution Drum and Bugle Corps will present patriotic favorites during multiple performances at the Rapier Trust Starlight Amphitheater and conduct interactive musical clinics with young audience members.

Military members, first responders and members of their families who present valid ID cards at the Morgan’s Wonderland Welcome Center can obtain a special discounted admission of $8 per person, Morander noted. Individuals with special needs and children ages 2 and younger are admitted free.

After the special daytime activities at Morgan’s Wonderland, the scene will shift to nearby Heroes Stadium at Wurzbach Parkway and Thousand Oaks Drive for a 7:30 p.m. North American Soccer League contest pitting the San Antonio Scorpions against FC Edmonton, immediately followed by a colorful, patriotic fireworks display. For more information, visit www.SanAntonioScorpions.com

All Scorpions net profits go to Morgan’s Wonderland to help the non-profit park meet its financial obligations as well as expand services and programs for the special-needs community, Morander noted.
