KROV hosts historic launch party, @ 1400 West Ave., 2-27

KROV 91. 7 HD2 FM Enters Radio Airwaves & Restores R&B, Local Musicians & Community News to SA

Candlelight Evening Ceremony Includes Champagne Toast & On-Air Talent Showcase

A historic launch party will be held Sunday, February 27th from 5:30-6 p.m. 1400 West Avenue announcing the new, KROV 91.7-HD2 FM, San Antonio Community Radio, Inc.

KROV is a non-profit 501(c)(3) community-supported radio station that has been in development for almost four years. Citizens of San Antonio, businesses, non-profits, religious institutions, local entertainers, and governmental entities have all chipped in to help restore the voice of local urban contemporary radio.

KROV primarily plays R&B music but will showcase local musicians of all music genres and invite non-profits on-air to empower the community with information about how they can improve our quality of life.

After San Antonio lost its only urban contemporary station, the community organized to restore their voice on radio. “KROV” stands for (K Restore Our Voice). Local non-profits and local artists find little inclusion on local radio and the station fills a niche for San Antonio, which is the nation’s largest media market without an R&B station.
