Former Councilwoman Leticia Cantu
No Texting & Driving Campaign Launches in SA
“SA Arrive Alive” Website, Grassroots Push For New City Ordinance
Please join Leticia Cantu at a press conference on Sunday, September 26th @ 2 .m. @ the median on Stadium Drive between Alamo Stadium and Trinity University to announce a new initiative, “SA Arrive Alive”.
“SA Arrive Alive” will encourage San Antonians, Bexar County , and surrounding Texas municipalities to pledge to stop texting while driving and urge City Council to pass the resolution she introduced to ban the practice.
Through www.saarrivealive.com, Cantu is kicking off the campaign theme of “Arrive Alive” with State Senator Carlos Uresti, who will be there to announce his intention to carry the issue to the upcoming legislative session in hopes of joining the other 20 states that have enacted a statewide ban. A host of community leaders ranging from the San Antonio Police Officers Association and others will be present in support.
Due to the staggering increase in text related accidents in San Antonio and around the nation, our community needs to unite in solidarity to reduce the amount of San Antonians who are text messaging while driving. SA Arrive Alive is intended to educate and alter the driving culture to ensure that our roadways remain safe for all members of our community (with an emphasis on new teenage drivers). We invite all San Antonio and Bexar County residents to participate and pledge their support for the SA Arrive Alive campaign.
We may live in different sectors of the city and county but we all share the same roads and highways. All community members are invited to sign their pledge on giant poster sized SA Arrive Alive contract to never text while driving.
