NHPO to Host Immigration Panel in "Quiero Saber" series, 5-22

NHPO to Host Immigration Panel in the First of Its “Quiero Saber” Series

The National Hispanic Professional Organization (NHPO) will be hosting the first of its “Quiero Saber” Series: The Facts about Immigration co-sponsored by Nationwide Insurance.

Recent events have spurted an active approach among political, ethnic and civil rights groups to provide substantive and comprehensive information about the facts surrounding immigration reform. With the recent passage of Arizona’s most stringent illegal immigration crack-down policy and with many states exploring similar legislation; the NHPO has taken a strong approach to provide resources to become active in engaging in immigration talks to demonstrate the economic and social effects immigration reform will have on the nation.

The NHPO will have a panel of 4 immigration experts, which will include various experts, including US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and author of “Living in a Double World:” A Practical Guided Tour Through the Immigration Experience by Ana Maria Quevedo.

The panel will present on the economics, reform laws, impact on small business and the life of immigrants in the United States. The panel will provide a neutral approach to all immigration from various nations.

The event will take place at Absolutely Everything Catering at 3915 San Pedro on May 22nd, from 10 a.m.-noon. RSVPs for the event can be made by calling (210) 396-9752 or visit the NHPO website at http://www.nhpo.us/sanantonio for more information.
