The San Antonio Museum of Art and Musical Offerings present the eighteenth annual "Jazz Meets Classical" concert, a unique collaboration between jazz and classical musicians in San Antonio.

The San Antonio Museum of Art and Musical Offerings present the eighteenth annual "Jazz Meets Classical" concert, a unique collaboration between jazz and classical musicians in San Antonio.
This year's "Jazz Meets Classical" features guest artist Rob Hardt on flute, piccolo, clarinet and alto sax, and the newly commissioned piece Full Frontal Lobes by UTSA's James Scott Balentine. San Antonio-born musician Rob Hardt, now living in Los Angeles, attended the Eastman School of music in Rochester, NY and has performed and recorded with jazz legends such as Joe Williams, Phil Woods, Clark Terry and Jon Hendricks.
James Scott Balentine's jazz cantata Full Frontal Lobes, explores the thought processes of jazz and classical musicians, and incorporates theatrical narration and projection. Other works include My Little Suede Shoes by Charlie Parker, Como Una Flor by Gonzalo Bergara, Club Crawl by Kenji Bunch, and Cotton Tail by Duke Ellington.
Musicians: Joan Christenson, Matthew Diekman, Ben Wesney, Zlatan Redzic, Brent Watkins, Jim Balentine, Curtis Calderon, Matthew Dunne, Rob Hardt, Kyle Keener. Tickets: $8 Members, $12 non-members.
Doors open at 6 p.m.-come early to view Psychedelic: Optical and Visionary Art since the 1960s on display at SAMA through August 1st..
