A Unique Photographic Exhibit Mixed with Poetry by Melanie Rush Davis Opens this Friday. Bihl Haus Arts Presents a Series of Literature Art Events including an Upcoming Small Press Book Fair and Second Thursday Series.

Poetry, poets and the Melanie Rush Davis exhibit about them are taking the spotlight at Bihl Haus Arts as the celebration of National Poetry Month draws near. Wordworkers opens with a reception and Wall Scrawl, this Friday, March 19th from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Bihl Haus Arts, 2803 Fredericksburg Road.

Melanie Rush Davis finds poets around San Antonio, sometimes in their own environments, and captures them at ease rather than in the act of reading or writing with her pinhole camera. The exhibit becomes complete at the opening reception when the photos are paired with poems penned onto the gallery walls by the photographed poets.

Poets Grisel Acosta, Roberto Bonazzi, Jenny Browne, Rosemary Catacalos, Sandra Cisneros, Nan Cuba, Martha K. Grant, Palmer Hall, Jim LaVilla-Havelin, Marian Haddad, Assef al-Jundi, Bryce Milligan, Ignacio Magaloni, Josie Mixon, Naomi Shihab Nye, Carol Coffee Reposa, John Phillip Santos, Carmen Tafolla, Vincent Toro, and Mobi Warren are featured in Wordworkers.

Wordworkers, an official National Poetry Month 2010 San Antonio event, was organized by Jim LaVilla-Havelin, National Poetry Month Coordinator for San Antonio.
