AAF San Antonio pays tribute to the military @ the 2010 ADDY® Awards Show
The American Advertising Federation (AAF) - San Antonio will announce the 2010 ADDY® Award winners at the Doubletree Hotel – San Antonio Airport, on February 20. The theme of the evening will be a tribute to all branches of the U.S. military, with a spotlight on San Antonio’s top creative talent.
A preview of the award-winning work will be on display prior to the event, and will be followed by the awards show, titled “Drop and Give Me ADDYs.”“Although this is an evening that focuses on creative excellence,” states Melissa Burnett, 2010 ADDY Chair, “the AAF San Antonio also realizes the importance of giving to those in our community who are in need.”
Guests are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item, which will be given to the San Antonio Food Bank and all proceeds from the silent auction will benefit the military charity Operation: Comfort – supporting wounded soldiers at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC). The ADDY Awards are considered the advertising industry's largest and most representative competition, recognizing creative excellence and the very best worldwide.
This year’s local winners were selected from approximately 600 entries received from agencies, design shops, freelance professionals, and students in the San Antonio market. Attendees will include a diverse group of individuals from the creative community…creative directors, designers and copywriters…and is also an event that advertising clients love to attend.
The concept and design for the show came from a collaborative effort led by Eleazar Hernandez, owner of Hernandez Design Studio (illustrations), with the help of Paula Andrade (copywriting), Arispe Design (production) and Gray Web Technology + Design. The awards show will be coordinated by Melissa Burnett and Paula Andrade, produced by David Frank, owner of Say It With Photos and be emceed by KENS 5 television sportscaster, Joe Reinagel. Opening entertainment will be provided by the Prelude Quartet, with a presentation by the TMI Color Guard.
“The ADDY Awards are the biggest fundraising event this organization holds each year,” explains Rebecca Ballard, AAF San Antonio President, “which helps us to accomplish our goal of providing financial support to advertising education in San Antonio.” Each year the AAF San Antonio provides scholarship dollars to students pursuing careers in marketing, advertising, design and communications.
Winners of Student ADDY Awards will also be recognized at the show. Event Information: 2010 ADDY Awards, Saturday, February 20th.
