Fiesta Fandango 2.6 Mile Fun Run , April 25th, the Fiesta Fandango Run, sponsored by the San Antonio Roadrunners, took place before the Fiesta Flambeau Parade. Before it began many participants, pre-registered & on-site registrations, signed in at Sunken Gardens for their number and a commemorative t-shirt.

John Prunell said, "It seemed that 500 had pre-registered and many more came in to register and run." Race Director Debra Acosta and the registration teams accommodated all that had pre-registered and many more registering that evening.

The start site began at Grayson and Broadway. This was a chance to race in front of the thousands of cheering people while lined the entire length of the 2.6 mile course.

This year participants were encouraged to wear costumes or run in groups with a group theme. The race ended at Columbus Park, on the West side of San Antonio, where plenty of music and refreshments were set up for runners, family and friends. At the post-race celebration in Columbus Park, 1st place awards were given to the top male and female finishers and 1st, 2nd, 3rd and honorable mention awards for the Costume Contest, after they had been selected earlier at Sunken Gardens.

After the celebration had finished shuttle buses returned to Columbus Park to transport participants back to the Sunken Gardens parking lot in Brackenridge Park.
