Every time I speak to constituents in my office, around town and at public meetings they voice the same concern-- graffiti.
Graffiti is a scourge on many cities around the state. It not only destroys private property, it can also communicate gang information and fuel gang warfare. In fact, the Texas Attorney General's office describes graffiti as the "newsletter of gangs."
On Monday, March 16 at 8a.m. House Bill 1558 will appear before the Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence, Subcommittee on Property Crime.
San Antonio City Councilmember Jennifer Ramos and David Garza from the Housing Department will offer public testimony to the effects and costs of graffiti in our neighborhoods.
I would like to invite you to appear before the committee to offer your testimony to the committee. This is a great opportunity to let lawmakers listen to first-hand accounts of the impact graffiti has had on you, your property and your neighborhood. If can't make it to Austin I would encourage you to email testimony, and I would be happy to present it to the committee.
If you would like to testify, please call my office toll-free at 1.866.845.7777 for more information and details.
Sincerely,
State Rep. Trey Martinez Fischer
