Welcome Road to Success 2009
A Transition from High School to College Conference @ Our Lady of the Lake Wellness & activities Center, was held Saturday, February 14th with the San Antonio Education Partnership. (SAEP)
The event started signing in students at 7:45 a.m. for student attendance at the “Road to Success” sponsored by SAEP. James L. Jackson, SAEP Program Coordinator Access, said, “This should be well attended & offer exciting information for the students.,”
Students signed in and then walked over to the OLLU Thiry Auditorium for the event’s 9 a.m. opening session. The Conference consisted over 30 Sessions and Exhibitors of workshops that presented valuable information related to college access and success.
After the opening / welcoming session the students then moved to their first informative workshop presented by a skilled and experienced volunteer. (i.e. High School Counselor, Journalist, College/University Representatives, Health Professionals, & Community Representatives)
Manuel Maldonado, UTSA Mobile Go Center-Program Manager, started welcoming the students and having them assigned to a computer inside the Mobile Go Center. Maldonado said, “This Center provides High School students opportunities to create a personal profile to receive scholarship information, financial aid information, and to research any college/university of their choice’….’may not have internet at home and we really provide it to them by the center.”
