UTSA Mobile Health Lab Part of H-E-B Health & Wellness Family EXPO

The UTSA Mobile Health Lab and Zenong Yin, Loretta J. Lowak Clarke Distinguished Professor of Health and Kinesiology, College of Education and Human Development will take part in the H-E-B Health and Wellness Family EXPO.

H-E-B has invited UTSA, the University Health System, the American Heart Association and the San Antonio Spurs to be part of the Good Living Health & Wellness Family Expo on Saturday, October 11th at Freeman Coliseum from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

The UTSA Mobile Health Lab offers free cholesterol screenings, blood pressure, body mass index, cardiovascular fitness, body composition analysis and muscular fitness evaluation. “The mobile health lab is part of UTSA’s community outreach program," said Betty Merchant, dean of the College of Education and Human Development.

"Because we are committed to the well-being of the South Texas community, the lab routinely travels to where community members live and work to deliver cutting-edge research programs, health screenings and nutrition information.

We are pleased to be included in this H-E-B event.”
H-E-B and its partnering agencies hope to address many of the health concerns that challenge San Antonio such as: high cholesterol, diabetes, childhood obesity, and heart disease. The Expo will also feature healthy cooking demonstrations, educational seminars, dental screenings, carotid artery tests, skin cancer screenings, kid’s activities, and free product samples.

Participants will have a chance to win several door prizes, including Spurs memorabilia. Former San Antonio Spur, George “The Iceman” Gervin will be on hand from 10:45 a.m. to noon to share his personal battle with high blood pressure.
