L-R: National Night Out Logo
Dear Neighbors,
Last weekend, my daughter Cristina and I painted over graffiti throughout District 8 with lots of wonderful volunteers! Over 3,700 residents participated in the event city-wide and District 8 had the 3rd most volunteers overall! I would like to thank everyone who helped beautify our City!
I would also like to encourage each neighborhood to join me, Cristina, and our District 8 staff, to participate in the 25th Anniversary of National Night Out on Tuesday, October 7, 2008! This is a unique crime and drug prevention event, where neighbors unite in the spirit of community safety. We will be visiting various neighborhood gatherings throughout District 8, meeting with members of the community.
Al, the San Antonio Police Department serves an important role by strengthening community-police relationships, as well as increasing awareness for prevention programs. Last year, over 450 communities, including 130,000 residents, registered to participate in National Night Out in the City of San Antonio and hopefully 2008 will engage an even larger group! National Night Out is a great way to strengthen neighborhood unity and together, we can keep our communities safe!
