Councilwoman Delicia Herrera (photo) would like to announce the following storm updates:
- Local response to heavy rain and winds
- High Winds Incident 900 Block of Steves: · No injuries
- 1 Red Cross opened a shelter at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church Social Center, 125 w. Whittier (corner of Whittier and S. Presa)
- 2 At the location – SAFD, SAPD. DCI, Public Works, Code Compliance, Red Cross, CPS Energy, VIA
- Public Works Teams are currently working on the removal of the wind blown debris
- There are 5 street closures.
- Currently there are 7 traffic signal malfunctions located mostly in the NE and NW side of the city
- There are 15 trees down mostly located in the Central area of the city
- Minor traffic accidents 188 and Major accidents 26, since midnight
- We continue to expect heavy rainfall and thunderstorms today, locally
- Residents are reminded to be prepared for the possibility of flash flooding and move to higher ground immediately
- Know evacuation routes; have a prepared communications plan for your family and turn around and don’t drown when you come to a low water crossing
- Be aware of streams, drainage channels and low water crossings. Flash floods can occur in these areas without warning
- Flood preparation information is available on the City’s website, the Ready South Texas website and you can 311
- Remember to call 311 if need information and your life is not in danger or if you are not in an emergency situation
- Call 911 for help if your life is in danger, immediately
Hurricane Dolly Response:
* There are currently 2 active shelters in operation for the Dolly Hurricane Incident.
* The RMOC:
* Is staffing and managing the staging area for ambulances
* Twice daily hospital bed counts
* Maintaining contact with the VMOC (Valley Medical Operations Center)
* 30 wheel chair accessible vans are in the staging area
* 5 Ambulance Strike Teams
