Local Clinton supporters logged into a conference call with the Senator @6:15 p.m. Monday, June 9th to hear an 8 minute speech thanking her supporters and encouraging those on the phone to support Sen. Barack Obama in November.
Clinton was introduced by Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter, followed by Harold Ickes who answered questions in the Senator's behalf after she finished thanking her supporters before leaving for another engagement.
Questioners called in from Utah, New York, Texas & Minnesota before the conference call finished.
Clinton began her 8 minutes by acknowledging, "Mayor Nutter, I thank you for your leadership in Pennsylvania and your unwavering support."
She also said, "I am proud of all our strides with all the various groups of voters around the country."
She was quick to point out, "We must finish the job to elect Senator Barack Obama, President."
She continued, " Women were instrumental in my victories in the Primaries. It was a groundbreaking event.
"During the campaign, I presented solutions to problems that must addressed. We must never stop fighting for our country. We must defeat Senator McCain and elect Senator Barack Obama."
Her parting words to Harold Ickes, " I am profoundly grateful for your support."
"Thank you everyone, it was a great honor to be your candidate," she concluded.
Ickes pointed out after the Senator excused herself, that it still has not been determined what capacity Clinton will serve at the Convention in Denver. He noted that she wishes to continue the conversation on the critical issue of Health Care and to ensure her delegates are seated at the National Convention.
