Gov. Rick Perry (photo) Sets Special Election Date for Senate District 17

Austin – Gov. Rick Perry today announced a special election to fill the vacancy in State Senate District 17 to be held on the next general election date, Nov. 4, 2008. The seat was left vacant by the resignation of State Sen. Kyle Janek.

Candidates for this special election must file applications with the Secretary of State no later than 5:00 p.m. on Aug. 29, 2008. The early voting period for this special election runs from Oct. 20 to 31, 2008.

The senator elected in this special election will serve out the remainder of State Senator Kyle Janek’s term, which expires Jan. 2011.
