National Association of Letter Carriers Union Informational Picket, Thursday, May 22nd @ 4:30-7:30 p.m. @ Laurel Heights Post Office, 2400 McCullough
Good day, My name is Joseph Blancarte, I am member of the National Association of Letter Carriers Union, Branch 421 here in San Antonio. I am currently a City Letter Carrier at the Laurel Heights station.
On behalf of local 421, I want to congratulate everyone of you on the swearing in ceremony on Tuesday, May 6, 2008. Our union has supported the Democratic Party since it's inception and will continue to do so. We are asking for your support for an informational picket we have scheduled for May 22nd from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.
We are asking that each of you contact your supporters as well as your state delegates to attend this picket and stand with us. For over 5 years now, the Laurel Heights station has been a station in turmoil and high stress. We the employees have endured a Station Manager that has harassed, threatened, and intimidated each of us in clear violation of labor practices outlined in our contract.
Management continues to disregard the fair practices they have agreed upon in our National agreement and in so doing jeopardize the future of the Postal Service and the quality of service that the public has a right to expect. We beseech the need of support from the public and political sector to show our unity in agreement that these disregarding practices can not be tolerated.
I would submit that you please attend. A show of support could receive significant media coverage which could only benefit our resolve. In addition, please contact me for a copy of a resolution that will be submitted at the state convention.
We need your support in advancing our Resolution through the upcoming Convention in Austin, Texas. Please be advised that Dan Torres and Homer Hernandez, state delegates, will be presenting this Resolution.Thank you.
Joseph Blancarte
