We are proud to invite you to join us in supporting the Texas Capitol Vietnam Monument.
There are two ways to support this important effort. The monument artist Duke Sundt will be creating an original ‘Combat Cross’ sculpture exclusively for the purpose of raising funds for the Texas Capitol Vietnam monument. This sculpture will be a limited edition of 1000, each reproduced by the artist, and available for purchase.
The cost of erecting and maintaining the memorial is estimated at $1.5 million. You can support the effort by sending your tax deductible donation today (please see attached for suggested donation levels and details). Every donation brings us closer to our goal and beginning construction on the monument.
The monument will reflect the commitment of the great State of Texas to those who served, and in many cases gave their lives, in the Vietnam War as part of the armed forces.
At the recent kick off event to launch the project, Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst, Speaker Tom Craddick and Luci Baines Johnson were among the dignitaries who attended. Luci Baines Johnson said “Our family is forever grateful to the courageous men and women who served our nation in Vietnam. A memorial to their sacrifice at the heart of our state’s capital is the right thing to do for these heroic Texans, their loved ones, and history.”
Important efforts like this monument are only made possible by the investment and support of business and community leaders. Mina Rofeh of JHL Company will contact your office to follow up. For more information please call (512) 236-1001.
Sincerely,
Co-Chair Senator Juan Hinojosa
