Taken from the ACT Website:
No New Taxes: Approving this proposal will not result in any new tax or increase of any tax, it would simply extend what is called the Visitor Tax, which is levied on hotel and rental car rates. This is a tax almost entirely on visitors; very little comes from local residents.
Good News For Our Community: The revenue from this tax will directly benefit our kids and our community by: providing miles of recreational opportunities along the river; building brand new youth sporting facilities throughout the county; enhancing the Freeman Coliseum, livestock facilities and AT&T Center to make the San Antonio Livestock Exposition and Rodeo even better – providing even more scholarships; and, building a world-class performing arts center and cultural facilities to expand our kids’ minds.
This is a unique, one-time opportunity for us to enrich the lives of our children and to build an even greater San Antonio that we love and call home. By voting Yes to extend the Visitor Tax, you will be doing your part for a better San Antonio. The four propositions include:
San Antonio River Improvements
Rodeo Grounds & Community Arenas Enhancements
Performing & Cultural Arts Center
Youth & Amateur Athletic Facilities
