Dear Friends,
I am pleased to announce that at Council last week, we formally authorized an agreement to bring the storefront police substation back to the Deco District. This 10-year lease agreement ensures local businesses and residents a neighborhood security presence by providing a hub for our local SAFFE, Code Compliance and Park Police Officers. This location, in the beautifully-restored Deco Building, will also provide an excellent meeting place for neighborhood groups and associations.
My thanks to all those involved for helping make this a reality during my first year in office. Look for a ribbon-cutting ceremony in the months ahead.
Also in the coming weeks, the safety ordinance that I proposed to restrict cell phone use while driving through school zones will be coming to the full Council. I have been encouraged by the positive responses received from our police chief, city staff and residents in our district. We will keep you posted as it comes to a full vote in late March or early April.
As the spring season approaches, I am pleased to announce our 1st Annual District 7 Easter Egg Hunt at Woodlawn Lake Park on March 22nd. This event is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact our office at (210) 207-2727. Please note we will be sharing the Lake that day with a 5k "Laps for Lance" event. For more information on the run/walk, please follow the link to http://www.life-links.us/LAPS.html.
I look forward to seeing you in the community.
Kindest regards,
Justin Rodriguez
