The Emma Tenayuca Book Première y Celebración
You are invited to an historic event. On Saturday, December 15, many of San Antonio's leaders and pueblo will gather for a festive evening of food and music as Wings Press premières its newest publication, an illustrated children's book about Emma Tenayuca, one of the most important leaders in San Antonio's long and colorful history.

For those who don't know about Emma, she was a brilliant and courageous 21-year-old who, led 12,000 pecan shellers in a 1938 strike for better wages and working conditions. Historians point to this event as the first successful mass political action in the long struggle for Mexican-American civil rights.

Written by Carmen Tafolla & Sharyll Teneyuca, and illustrated by Terry Ybáñez, this full-color, bilingual hardback children's book is the first-ever book about Emma.

Please come help us celebrate the publication of: That's Not Fair! Emma Tenayuca's Struggle for Justice¡ No Es Justo! La lucha de Emma Tenayuca por la justicia

Tickets are $20. Books are $17.95. The evening will include a silent art auction and showing of an award-winning mini-documentary about Emma. The authors and illustrator will be available to sign books. (They're great Christmas presents!)

All proceeds go to the Emma Tenayuca Project, supporting high-quality publications about this significant woman. Reservations can be made with the Esperanza Peace & Justice Center. (210) 228-0201.
