HOY, The Hispanic Organization for Youth, is a non-profit organization under the observation of high school and college students. HOY is formed for the purpose of promoting higher education and community service.

Here is the basic overview of the Leaders of Tomorrow Conference: HOY, The Hispanic Organization for Youth, has partnered with the University of Texas at San Antonio to bring The Leaders of Tomorrow Conference & College Fair to 200 high school students from across San Antonio on Saturday November 17, 2007 at the UTSA Downtown Campus / Buena Vista Building.

The Leaders of Tomorrow Conference & College Fair is aimed at inspiring students to seek their "dream careers," compose superb college application essays, and learn about scholarship/financial aid opportunities.

Dr. Maria Felix-Ortiz, columnist for the Express-News and professor at The University of The Incarnate Word, will lead the workshop cycle "Writing College Application Essays" and UTSA Financial Aid experts will lead the workshop cycle "Financial Aid/Scholarship Opportunities."

Five inspirational speakers will be in attendance including world-renowned leader Mr. Lionel Sosa, CEO of
MATT.org (Mexicans and Americans Thinking Together), and opening remarks will be given by Dr. Ricardo Romo, President of UTSA. Representatives from Carnegie Mellon, Yale, University of Pennsylvania, Harvard, Notre Dame, and other prestigious universities will be in attendance for the college fair.

Other small in-state private and public colleges will be in attendance as well. Catered lunch will be provided to students free-of-charge. HOY asks that students be dressed in business casual attire. HOY wishes to inspire all students of race, ethnicity, orientation, and socioeconomic background. Students must RSVP on HOY's website:
http://www.thehoyproject.org/ (click on the tab 'RSVP'). There is only 200 spots and preference is given to those who RSVP first.

HOY has raised funds to provide scholarships to a selected few of students who fill out the optional essay portion of the RSVP form. 1. My friends and I went last year. It was so much fun. The only thing we didn't like was that really boring financial aid workshop. It went on forever. But apart from that I got to meet all sorts of people from other schools, some of who have become my friends.
