Graffiti harms our community in many ways. Its presence decreases the value of property, as well as, surrounding real estate which contributes to diminished retail sales and attracts crime.
The answer is rapid removal of the graffiti and controlled access to those areas prone to this type vandalizing. It is the responsibility of Law Enforcement to work with business and homeowners to keep property clear of graffiti. This in turn helps with the tendency towards apathy and neglect of property while increasing home and business security.
As your next duly elected Bexar County Sheriff I will not tolerate vandals who use graffiti to threaten our citizens and devalue our property. I will have a policy of rapid removal, assisted by my work release prisoners, and a target unit to seek out ‘Graffiti Vandals’ with the help of a Gang Task Force specifically assigned “to take back our streets”. Additionally I want to create a ‘Business Watch’ coordinating Law Enforcement with merchants to keep tabs on our business areas.
It is my intent to aggressively seek out the ‘Graffiti Vandals’ in Bexar County. Texas Law classifies the act of placing graffiti on property as a Class B Misdemeanor which means, under my watch, anyone breaking this law and making victims out of our hard working citizens will be arrested and gets a trip to jail.
