BIHL Haus Arts Third Anniversary, Friday, Oct. 12th
Turning Three at at Bihl Haus Arts
October 12-November 3rd
Opening Reception: Friday, Oct. 12th from 5:30-8:30 p.m.
San Antonio, TX -Bihl Haus Arts (BHA) presents the exhibition Turning Three! in celebration of the third anniversary since restoration work began on the historic Bihl house, the 1920s home built by George Bihl from Alamo stones, which now houses the modern gallery.
This exhibition also marks two full years of exceptional programming at Bihl Haus Arts, which has produced 20 exhibitions featuring the work of more than 130 artists, including artists from Tibet, Japan, and India, and has hosted dozens of special events: poetry readings, scholarly lectures, a symposium on contemporary art of India, family-friendly activities, and musical, dance, and theatrical performances.
Our docents, residents of Primrose at Monticello Park Senior Apartments, where BHA is located, have partnered with urban youth to produce a nature photography series and two seven-feet-high sculptures! In addition, BHA recently began offering regular painting and yoga classes open to Primrose residents and area neighbors. On the horizon are special events, such as “On and Off Fredericksburg Rd. Studio Tour” (Feb. 8-10, 2008), and “Art and the Healing Arts” (opens June 21, the summer solstice).
Turning Three! opens with a reception on Friday, October 12, from 5:30-8:30 pm, featuring live music by Buttercup. The exhibition, BHA’s first fundraiser since receiving official non-profit status, highlights small works by more than 50 artists who have shown in or worked with the gallery since it opened.
Participating artists include Richard Arredondo, Rolando Briseno, Danville Chadborn, Dr. Sharon Colangelo, Jenny Dev, Jacqui Dorsey, Carolina Flores, Ovidio Giberga, Dale Jenssen, Deborah Keller-Rihn, Roland Mazuca, Michael Mehl, Stacy Parten, Angel Rodriguez-Diaz, David Rubin, Ramin Samandari, Joyce Stache, Russell Stephenson, Mark Tudyk, Luis Valderas, y mas!
