City South Management Authority and UTSA's Institute of Texas Cultures will host a community workshop, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22nd at Highland Forest Elementary School, 3736 S.E. Military Dr. (78223)
As San Antonio's South Side experiences new growth and development, UTSA's Institute of Texan Cultures has been called upon to preserve the stories of the area's past.
The community is invited to a workshop where museum staff will record oral histories about the area and photograph and scan historic photos, documents and artifacts.
The museum is looking for photos of old businesses, farms, ranches, people, family reunions, weddings and other events in the region bordered on the North by Loop 410, East by I-37, South by the Medina River and West by I-35. The region encompasses small communities like Cassin, Mitchell Lake, Somerset and Von Ormy.
To schedule an appointment with an ITC interviewer or archivist, call 342-0135.
