Celebrate Latin American Art, Holiday Shopping at Annual Bazar Sábado
San Antonio --It’s time to save the date for this year’s Bazar Sábado! Please join us on Saturday, December 8 for a holiday shopping experience unlike any other. Where else can you travel from a colorful Mexican mercado, to a bustling bazaar in Bangkok, to a textile market in Ghana ,all within a matter of minutes? As in years past, the building at 207 West Jones Avenue (directly across the street from the Museum) will be transformed into a spectacular cross-cultural marketplace.
Special shopping trips to Mexico , Central and South America and Asia have stocked the shelves with unique treasures from around the world in a variety of prices to accommodate all your gift-giving needs. New additions to the Bazar this year include unusual African tribal pieces such as textiles, beads, a ceremonial chair and small sculptures; handbags, fashions and ethnic jewelry from Southeast Asia; and Cuna Indian blouses with molas, individual molas, ceremonial rattles and carved gourd bowls from Panama. Of course, Bazar Sábado favorites from Mexico , Guatemala and Peru such as jewelry and accessories, holiday items, ceramics, textiles, housewares and rugs will be featured in abundance. There is truly something for everyone!
Also offered are complimentary buñuelos, coffee and hot chocolate for those early birds standing in line and delicious Beto’s empeñadas to purchase at mid-day to fortify your multiple trips back through the market. As in the past, entrance into the Museum will be free for anyone who shows a Bazar Sábado receipt of purchase at the front desk.
