Gov. Rick Perry (photo) Sets Special Election in House District 97
Austin – Gov. Rick Perry today set Tuesday, Nov. 6, as the special election day to fill the vacancy in the Texas House of Representatives District 97 created by the resignation of Rep. Anna Mowery. The candidate who wins will serve out the remainder of the term, to expire in Jan. 2009.
Candidates who wish to have their names placed on the special election ballot must file their application with the Secretary of State no later than 5 p.m. on Aug. 31, 2007. In accordance with Texas Election Code, early voting by personal appearance begins Oct. 22, and runs through Nov. 2.
